HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY MR TAI!

Although you're flying off to Australia tonight for a whole week.
Yesterday was really pretty hectic. I ended up not finishing the anniversary gift I've been preparing since last September because recently at night when I plan to start, Teo pops up to rant. Haha. Well, not complaining. So I planned to go to school at 7:30 to take the class photo but ended up late. But still, there were later people. Phew. Else I'd get killed by everyone.
And then the Teacher's Day concert was.. great I guess. Appreciate Dr Wong and the MA's efforts but some performances were just spastic. Towards the end Eunice and Elaine and Ada suddenly got up to leave. They were going back to Nanyang to visit teachers. So I just took the chance to leave as well, hoping I could get a nap (talked to Teo till 3? 4? AM and didn't even start on the book) before doing the gift. In the end I walked (at a really slow pace) to Clementi and to my surprise, found that NTUC had Yoplait French Cheesecake Yogurt and bought it without a second thought. It sucks. Though I finished half the gigantic tub on the bus ride home. And then there was tuition with Valerie at 3. But Mrs Fong told me 2. So I wasn't sure, and I wanted to get my bike's tire pumped, so I cycled there at 2:30 and stayed till 4:30? Haha started playing Valerie's piano pieces.

Got home and Dan SMS-ed to say he reserved seats at PS Cafe, which I did feel like visiting just for the desserts. But I saw how horrible the reviews were for mains, and called him to tell him I'd rather go for his original suggestion. It proved to be a great decision after all, cos then I had more time to dress up and get there. It's this cozy little French diner tucked away next to Cluny Court, with a really hyper chef who happily greets everybody who walks past. Although the place is small, the staff there seemed really busy. Thankfully Dan and I got there before the dinner crowd came in.

Everything on the menu looked so yummy (though we didn't even know what some of them were) but in the end we settled on the Confit de Canard with Gratin and Ravioli of Prawn and Foie Gras in Lemon Creme, which I felt was the better of the two dishes since I didn't find the duck meat very yummy (though the potato gratin was good!). Haha, and I actually had my pre-meal bread with butter!

The ravioli was really good, and I think I'll probably order the same thing if we were to go back - I'm sure we will. They serve ravioli with spinach in lemon creme too, but without the foie gras. I think it'd be nice if I could have my ravioli with spinach, like the one JJ made when he cooked for us that time!

Anyways we had a Creme Caramel which was really kind of.. unnecessary. It wasn't very fantastic. After dinner, we headed over to Melvados for the actual dessert. Apple crumble with double scoop ice cream! It's supposed to be $1 for an additional scoop of ice cream and for the second scoop it'd be $3.20 (the standard price for a single scoop) but then I asked the guy at the counter and looked disappointed to hear that, so he gave us two additional scoops for $2 anyway. Which is great because the mango sorbet was really good. Thick and juicy.

And while that was just the beginning to our sweet little anniversary celebration, I felt more than contented already to have such an accomodating and loving and food-appreciating Daniel with me.

If I had the money, I would buy time.

Surprises are my worst enemy.
I don't get them, and I can never seem to give them.
I really never learn, do I. From sitting alone under the hot sun / pouring rain last Christmas. To being utterly ridiculed by my own enthusiasm this Valentines' Day. And once again I find that surprises never ever work, simply because somethings are just not important enough for others to spare time for.

Shaun where are you.

I'm not representing anyone (ie the school / organising committee) when I say this but I really don't like how some people obviously just want to go for Project SALT because it's cheap/easy as in no toilet building or such stuff.

Well, fuck off. This is NOT a cheap alternative to grad trip. This concerns little kids who are so excited about your arrival and look forward to spending every day with you and can't wait to share little stories about themselves with you, and little handicrafts / neoprints that they have.

So maybe I'm not the most perfect person for the trip, but at least I know I can contribute because I'm rather effectively bilingual and I actually wanted to go for the trip before knowing its cost. So yeah maybe you can have an average CAP of 10.183 or something. Or you could've done 20 trillion bigger and better SL projects before. And perhaps yeah, after you actually do go for the trip you will become someone who makes a highly positive impact on the students. But well I don't really care cos I never really thought highly of you.

In any case, don't worry. I don't feel threatened. Why would I feel threatened for an interview by people who memorise SAT flash cards and do fifty practice papers and still score crappy for English? (This is an english teaching trip btw.) Or people who can't speak enough Chinese to save their own skin? (I suck too.. But I can read lyrics at K-box faster than you!)

Or foreign talent who are just returning to where they belong.

I haven't talked to you in a while.
Are you fine?
You're so near to me (in my network of friends) I could just reach out to touch you.
But in many more ways, you're worlds away.
Do you see me and how hard I'm trying?

Haha. It's so strange now, I'm starting to eat like how I did in Year 4. Sooner or later I'll be heavier than I was. Now I don't feel bad about saying I eat a lot at all cos it's true. Sadly, I have lost all traces of self control. 2 and a half large Canadian pizzas are not a good sign. Especially if that's merely a part of dinner, which also consisted of 4 pratas with a huge bowl of beef curry, a whole plate of sauteed vegetables and 2 sticks of ice cream and half a tub of Bud's ice cream. I don't even know how I managed to swallow all that pizza. Sure, my dinner started at 5 and it's 2am now but that doesn't change the fact that all that was just.. dinner. I ate two chicken floss buns and a huge full plate of fried rice at 5 and headed for AGM where we had pizza and I only ate 4 slices (half a pizza) and a few nuggets. Then I brought the leftover pizzas home and uh. Wow they disappeared. And maid saved me dinner so that's where the prata comes in. Sigh.

Somebody stop me. O_O I want to go for a Sentosa outing without looking like a hippo. Haha Pam shall be my role model. She is like how hot. And she eats lots! Well okay.. I guess she lets herself eat a lot cos she exercises it all off which is how awesome. Haha.

Aah. The AGM.
Xinyi and BB, you really put your heart into the team so I'm sorry that the way things were today must've upset you very much. You can do it!

Daniel fell asleep on me. Again.
How does Sharon manage to talk to QC on the phone so much? Haha cuteness.
GKT!
ADIDAS. (:

On the 27th of May, 2008, an angel graced my home in the form of a 2 year old golden brown furred maltese. He stayed silent all night, not barking even once. I was skeptical and afraid. But at the same time, I was taken.

Kiki came to capture everyones eyes, attention and hearts. The little furball was just so hard to resist, even for me - I couldn't stand the idea of having him running around in my room. I remember on the first week that he came home, I was trying to leave the home. It kept barking everytime I opened the door to leave, and it took me so long to get out of the house. I was barely 5 minutes away from home when I began to tear, remembering its sad whines as I left home.

My hyper, energetic baby would always come to my room looking for scraps of food I dropped on the floor, or toys to play with. I'm sure it came to hate going for walks with me as I'd always make it run halfway across Bishan and back. And yet just spending time with Kiki made me feel like I could come to love life even more.

I knew all along that there would come a time when I wouldn't be able to part with Kiki. I just didn't think that time would come so soon. Should I be thankful that it's now and not any later, when it would simply kill me to leave it behind? I don't know.

Memories of Kiki before it fell ill seem so distant now. The first time I challenged myself to let it out of the cage when nobody was at home. When Dan came over for the first time and Kiki wouldn't stop chasing his foot. When I first took it out for a walk downstairs. Then it fell sick, and everyday I lived with its sad whining which slowly became barks of desperation. It killed us all inside.

One day, Mom and Dad brought it to the vet and we found out that Kiki was badly ill. That day, Kiki had his fur shaven off and we tried to hide it away in its cage with a huge towel over the cage so it wouldn't be able to see us and would quieten down and recover. My heart broke, though I had my own illness to cope with.

Slowly I began to try to distance myself from it, knowing that playing with it would only want it to be let out of its cage more often. The last memory I had of Kiki was letting it out of its cage so I could clean up the mess it made inside. Kiki came out and peed on the living room floor. Frustrated, all I could think of was to reprimand it so it would not make a habit out of peeing at home. It's what we're supposed to do, but Kiki, I really shouldn't have.

Today, just this morning, the thought of taking more photos with Kiki and starting a diary to remember Kiki's journey with us came to my mind. I had absolutely no idea of what was about to come. I'd thought that Kiki had been recovering somewhat. Then Dad and Mom decided to bring him to the vet before sending me to tuition. And I dumbly followed them. The vet told us then, that the best way out was to put my little angel to sleep.

Initially, I just looked at Dad blankly and nodded my agreement. It wasn't until a few moments later that the reality of things hit me. Images played through my mind like a slideshow. The first night Korkor brought Kiki home and it stared at me with its big eyes. The first time I touched its fur and pat it. The first time I fed it. Up until this morning when I saw it standing on the treadmill like it wanted a workout. The vet took the leash from Mom and stepped into the surgery room. Then came the nightmare.

I saw Kiki shivering. And I saw him trying to stay rooted to the ground to no avail. I saw him trying to face us and look us in the eye, although the vet was pulling him into the room from behind. The vet bent down to pick Kiki up from the floor, and even then I could tell that Kiki knew what was about to come and did not want to leave us.

I saw the vet put Kiki into the cage. And from the beginning, till the end, my baby never made a single noise. Just like the first day it came home. Just like the only time I ever scolded it. Just like a confused soul in a world of fear and uncertainty. Once again in this 18 years of life, my heart died for somebody.

I love you.
Lively, golden-furred you and bald, furless you.

Today, one year ago.

Takoyaki, Oliver, phonebook, I'll-see-you-around-then, loss, realization, love?

Today was the beach run / cross country / 2.4km. I didn't do my best but it'll have to do. Came in 12th. At least I don't push myself like crazy until I get cramps here and there and basically become half dead. Or train obsessively. Or skip meals.

Training was great today. Revised the nationals dance, learnt the cheer and decided to join the Cheer EMAS competition (which will be in Malaysia I think?) on the 23rd-24th August! Took a cab down from ECP to Mount Alvernia too and yeah basically it was awkward and weird but I hope I'll be okay.

MIRA MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU. I feel so horrible on your behalf. Like I could smash eggs into someone's disgusting rotten pathetic loserish face. I don't know how anyone in the WORLD can be so despo.
